First off, for anyone that read all my long blog posts that i just deleted, and were confused. I posted them so i could transfer homework from my school to here (my home) via internet.
Anyways, ive noticed something kinda funny. In girls Volleyball, they wear these really tight and hot spandex. They hide nothing. But it has been this way for a long time, girls and the really tight, short, spandex. Then i started think..."what is the completitive advantage of the spandex?". If they had any advantage, wouldnt shaq or any other pro athlete wear the spandex? Do the girls just wear them to get people to their games?
Give my your opinion.

Girls VolleyBall?This is interesting. I am from the midwest were womens volleyball is major- in other words Nebraska . They had an article about this very subject. I really can't remember much about the article other than it showed the progression of the uniform over the years. I think it is just a matter of comfort. I can imagine if the mens teams starting wearing Spandex that they would attract a lot of women viewers and fans. |

Girls VolleyBall?Haha I read this I went straight to my girl to see if there is a reason for the spandex. She said that it is very comfortable and keeps you from getting to hot. |

Girls VolleyBall?I'm a guy coach for a girls varsity team. Our school this past season disallowed the use of spandex for our girls team. Citing reasons that the kids are always picking at the spandex at matches, they are too revealing, and most of all too short. My girls think that the comfort of the spandex, the breathability of the fabric are far more important than people coming to the matches. They really don't care about that. At least that is what they say. The problem they have with not being able to wear them is that the boys wrestlers wear full body tights with their packages hanging, the swim team gets to wear swim suits that can be revealing as well and that the track outfit shows everything. My team has a tendency to play good defense and often dive for tough plays. The girls really don't want anyone looking up their shorts when they hit the floor. Loose shorts create that problem. Why pick on volleyball? Is it because we are taking fans away from other sports? For us, we do draw better than the girls basketball team, we still play volleyball in the winter. I think our girls hoop coach and AD is a little discouraged that we have a bigger draw. Regardless, spandex for women has been an acceptable uniform for at least the last 7 olympic games. So why not drop the argument and let the kids play. This society is so wrapped up in appearance. We have so many bigger fish to fry than worrying about what the girls are wearing!
